Poole Defends Dogwood Junior Title
Kenan Poole of Raleigh, N.C. Wins Back-To-Back Dogwood Junior Boys' Championship to cap off junior golf career.
DAVIDSON, N.C. (Aug 1, 2019) -- Final results of the 15th Dogwood State Junior Boys’ Championship at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. on Thursday, Aug 1, 2019.

Kenan Poole of Raleigh, N.C. successfully defends his title at the Dogwood Junior Boys’ Championship at River Run Country Club. Poole is excited about ending his junior career on a high note as he will join UNC Chapel Hill men’s golf team in the fall.
“It feels good. It is a hard tournament to win. There are a lot of good players,” said Poole. “I hit a lot of fairways and greens and did not make a lot of mistakes. I didn’t make any bogeys yesterday and I had one today so that helped a lot”.
Poole steadily opened his round with two pars and had his first birdie of the day on the par-4, third hole. Poole had his second birdie on the par-4, 7th hole to make the turn at two-under-par, 34.
Poole made his third and final birdie of the day on the par-5,13th hole. A three-putt stumble on the No. 17 was his only blemish of the day. A par on his final hole of the championship gave Poole a six-shot victory to become the 2019 Dogwood Junior Boys’ champion.
Ike Joy of Denver, N.C., who started the day four shots off the lead, opened his round by draining a 40 foot putt for birdie on No. 1. A 25 foot birdie putt on No. 2 and a tap in birdie on No. 3 moved Joy within two of the lead. He finished his front nine at three-under-par, 33 but was not able to keep up on the back nine. Joy finished as the runner-up shooting 1-under-par, 215 total for the championship.
Christopher Sperrazza of Raleigh N.C. finished in third position at even par, 216.
