NC Junior Boys' Round of 16 Results

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 27, 2019) -- Round of  16 results of the 52nd North Carolina Junior Boys' Championship at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

The morning's round of 16 is complete and the semifinals are underway at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. By this evening, our original field of 146 players will be down to just four.

Our stroke-play medalist and number one seed, Peter Fountain of Raleigh, N.C., continues his great play defeating his oppontent, Austin Alexendar of Rutherfordton, N.C., 3 and 2. Fountain will face off against Christopher Sperrazza of Raleigh, N.C. in the semifinals. Sperrazza defeated his morning opponent, Ethan Hall of Morehead City, N.C. this morning, 4 and 2.

 Zach Brown of Bermuda Run, N.C. won his match against Owen Kose of Holly Springs, N.C., 4 and 2. Brown will face off against Symon Balbin of Pinehurst, N.C. in the seminfials. Balbin won his morning match against Caleb Surratt of Indian Trail, N.C., 2 and 1.

The longest match of the morning was between Zach Roberts of Holly Springs, N.C. and Tyler DeChellis of Clayton, N.C. Dechellis made a 15-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to extend the match but Roberts was able to secure the win on the first hole of sudden death. Roberts will face off against Alex Heffner of Harrisburg, N.C. in the seminfinals. Heffner defeated his morning opponent, Zach Pardoll of Waxhaw, N.C. 4 and 3.

Nicholas Mathews of Mebane, N.C. handily defeated his round of 16 opponent, Brian Wei of Raleigh, N.C., 6 and 5. Mathews will face Randall Hudson of New Bern, N.C. in the semifinals. Hudson won his morning match against Matias La Grutta of Cary, N.C., 2 and 1.

The semifinal matches are underway and results will be updated periodically as we are able to connect with the groups.
