Wildwood Green and Northstone Advance to Interclub Finals

PINEHURST, N.C. (November 10, 2018) –  From over 70 teams who began the 21st Carolinas Interclub season, the final four competed Saturday at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club (#6) in Pinehurst, NC (Par 36-36--72, 6343 Yards). The format of the Carolinas Interclub is a 12 player team competition with four-ball match play formats in each match. Each match has a 6 point total; 2 points for the front nine, 2 points for the back nine and 2 points for the total.

In the East Regional Finals, Wildwood Green Golf Club of Raleigh, NC defeated Maple Chase Golf & Country Club of Winston-Salem, NC by a score of 26-10. After sweeping two of the first three matches Wildwood Green grabbed a 14-4 lead. Maple Chase was unable to over come the deficit in the last three matches, advancing Wildwood Green to the Finals.

The West Regional Finals pitted Northstone Club from Huntersville, NC and Highland Creek Country Club #1 of Charlotte, NC. Northstone Club came out firing, winning points in all of the first three matches to take a 15-3 lead. After 3 points in the fourth match, they only needed one more to secure the victory. With 5 points in the fifth match they put themselves into the finals.

The teams representing Wildwood Green Golf Club and Northstone Club will begin play for the Ben Payne Trophy at 10:30 am Sunday from the first tee at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.
