Moye's 64 Leads at 33rd NC Senior

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 14, 2018) -- First round results of the 33^rd North Carolina Senior Amateur Championship at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. on Monday, May 14th (6,191 yards, Par 34-36--70, Course Rating 69.3/131).

Macon Moye of Pinehurst, NC shot the day's lowest score of six-under, 64, in the first round of the 33rd North Carolina Senior Championship hosted by Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, NC.

"I started six under on the back, then birdied one (started on hole ten)" said Moye. "But then I started thinking about the score and kind of cooled off" added the first round leader.

"Everything was working for me today." said Moye who has won three CGA titles, and is searching for his first win on the CGA senior circuit. Moye's round was highlighted on the back nine, where he started the round. Moye eagled both par fives as well as collecting back-to-back birdies on eleven and twelve.

There were six other players in the red on the par-70 layout, including Keith Waters of Raleigh, NC who had a bogey-free round of 66 and currently sits in solo second.

Nine-time winner and defending champion Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC finished the round tied for seventh with an even-par, 70.

Following Tuesday's round the field of 121 players will be cut to the low 60 and ties for Wednesday's finale.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the first day of the championship, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 10.4.
