Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship - Changes for 2018

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (January 23, 2018) -- The Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship, named in honor of long-time Carolinas junior girls' supporter Vicki DiSantis, began in 2006. Over 12 years, the Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship has become one of the most prestigious girls championships in the Carolinas, annually drawing top-ranked players from North Carolina and South Carolina. In 2018, the championship will have a few changes, including the addition of two sectional qualifiers and expanded exemptions.

New for 2018, the Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship will host two sectional qualifiers. Players who are not exempt into the championship will have an opportunity to qualify at one of two sectional qualifiers. Sectional qualifying is 18 holes of stroke play competition. The first qualifier will be held at Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro, N.C. on March 30, 2018. The second qualifier will be held on March 31, 2018 at Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, S.C. The Carolinas Golf Association is partnering with the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Golf Tour (PKBGT) to administer these qualifiers. Players will register for the Vicki DiSantis qualifiers through the PKBGT website (see below for more details). Membership to the PKBGT is not required in order to compete in sectional qualifying. The number of qualifying spots at each site is determined by the CGA after the close of entries, based on field size at qualifying site. All ties for the final qualifying spot will qualify for the championship. Players may only attempt to qualify at one site.

March 31 - Green Valley Country Club, Greenville, S.C.

 

Registration is now open for sectional qualifying. Exempt player registration opens on February 6, 2018 at 8:00 pm.

Player exemptions into the Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship have been expanded. There are 22 categories in which a player may become exempt for the Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship. If otherwise eligible, exempt players will gain entry into the championship upon registration.

• Top 15 from the 2017 Carolinas Junior Girls' Championship

• Top 10 from the 2017 Twin States Junior Girls' Championship

• Quarterfinalists from the 2017 North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship

• Top 8 from the 2017 South Carolina Junior Girls' Championship

• Semifinalists from the 2017 South Carolina Junior Girls' Match Play

• Top 6 from the Dogwood State Junior Girls' Championship

• Top 4 from the 2017 Carolinas Girls' 15 & Under Championship

• Top 6 from the 2017 CPGA Junior Girls' Championship

• Top 4 from the 2017 CPGA Charles Tilghman Girls' Championship

• Top 6 from the 2017 Jimmy Anderson Girls' Championship

• Top 8 from the 2017 SCJGA Beth Daniel Junior Azaela

• Top 8 from the 2017 SCGA Blade Junior Classic

• Top 8 from the 2017 SCJGA Cheraw Fall Challenge

• Top 5 from the 2018 SCJGA Caddie Classic

• Top 10 from the 2017 PKBGT Women's Health Classic Junior Challenge Symetra Qualifier

• Top 10 from the 2017 PKBGT Invitational

• Top 10 from the 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions

• TYGA North Carolina Middle School Girls' Medalist

• Top 5 from the 2018 TYGA Archdale-Trinity Junior Championship

• Players ranked in the top 20 of the TYGA Junior Girls' Rankings (as of February 1, 2018)

• Players ranked in the top 20 of the SCGA Junior Girls' Rankings (as of February 1, 2018)

Entry for the Vicki DiSantis Girls' Championship is open to any female amateur golfer ages 12-18 as of May 13, 2018, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has a current USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 18.3. About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
