Kim Briele of New Bern, N.C. looks to defend her Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur title
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (September 21, 2017) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 19th Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur Championship at Greensboro Country Club's Irving Park Course on September 26-27.

This is the fifth CGA championship hosted by the Donald Ross designed course. When the 2012 North Carolina Senior Women's Championship was held at Irving Park. Pat Brogden of Garner, N.C. edged Patty Moore of Charlotte, N.C. by one stroke.
The championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play (no cut). All players, regardless of Handicap Index, have the option to play in the Championship Division or the Carolinas Division, which plays a shorter course.
Entry is open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 50th birthday by the first day of the championship, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 40.4.

(No. 1) Pat Brogden of Garner, N.C.: a five-time Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur champion, a runner-up at last year's championship, this year won the North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

(No. 3) Kim Briele of New Bern, N.C.: the defending champion, this year she finished sixth at the North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

(No. 4) Lea Anne Brown of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.: qualified for match play in the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur, this year she won the Women's South Carolina Golf Association's Senior Championship.

(No. 5) Patty Moore of Charlotte, N.C.: a seven-time champion of the Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur, the trophy is named in her honor, a runner-up at last year's championship, also runner-up at this year's North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

(No. 8) Terrie Allemang of Hilton Head, S.C.: placed fourth at last year's championship and sixth at the 2017 Women's South Carolina Senior Amateur.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
