2016 CGAcers Hole-in-One Club Recap
Christian Sease aced the 11th hole at the Country Club of Charleston en route to winning the 102nd Carolinas Amateur Championship.
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (January 23, 2017) – One hundred and ninety one (191) Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) members submitted applications to the CGAcers club for holes-in-one in 2016. The longest ace made was 273-yards on October 2nd by Jeremy Ray from Pfafftown, N.C. using a driver on the 14th hole at Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane, N.C.. The shortest ace was a 60-yard sand wedge shot by Joan Mason from Sunset Beach, N.C. on April 18th at the 5th hole of the Jones Course at Sea Trail Golf Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C.
Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. reported the most holes-in-one with 12 and the Country Club of Whispering Pines in Whispering Pines, N.C. and the Ocean Ridge Golf Plantation in Sunset Beach, N.C. tied for second with 10 each.
A significant accomplishment of three aces in a calendar year was reported by 11-year-old Robert Gefaell, III of Charlotte, N.C. They were: June 29 at Charlotte Country Club, Charlotte, N.C. (Hole 3 – 118 yards – 7 Iron); August 20 at Mid Pines Golf Club, Southern Pines, N.C. (Hole 2 – 103 Yards – 8 Iron) and October 28 at Old Town Club, Winston-Salem, N.C. (Hole 2 – 113 Yards – 7 Iron).
Patricia West of Townville, S.C. reported a hole-in-one for the third consecutive year. They were: October 19, 2014 at Oconee Country Club in Seneca, S.C. (Hole 16 – 135 Yards – 9 Hybrid); February 12, 2015 at Summerfield Crossing Golf Club, Riverview, FL (Hole 8 – 93 Yards – 8 Iron) and July 12, 2016 at Oconee Country Club (Hole 6 – 130 Yards – 9 Hybrid). Oconee Country Club is Patricia’s home course.
Gerald Miller of Lincolnton, N.C., made two holes-in-one on consecutive days in 2016 and on the same hole at his home club - Lincoln Country Club, in Lincolnton, N.C. They were: February 7 (Hole 8 – 138 Yards – 7 Iron) and February 8 (Hole 8 – 158 Yards – 4 Hybrid).
The Carolinas Golf Association announced the winners of the 2016 CGAcer Hole-in-One Club Contest held on January 16, 2017. CGA members who made a hole in one in 2016 and submitted an application were eligible. Prizes for the 2016 annual drawing for hole-in-one winners were:
1st Place – CGA Golf Shirt, CGA Tervis Tumbler Set, CGA Towel, CGA Vanity License Plate, CGA Hat, CGA Divot Tool and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book
· 2nd Place –CGA Tervis Tumbler Set, CGA Towel, CGA Vanity License Plate, CGA Hat, CGA Divot Tool and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book
· 3rd Place – CGA Tervis Tumbler Set, CGA Vanity License Plate, CGA Hat, CGA Divot Tool and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book

The CGA will be awarding prizes again for 2017. The random drawing will take place by January 30, 2018 and all holes-in-one must be received at the CGA office no later than January 15, 2018. The CGAcer hole-in-one form is available on our website and must be completed and submitted for eligibility. The hole-in-one must be scored from January 1 through December 31, 2017. Your name will be entered for EACH hole-in-one made in 2017. You must be a current CGA member and carry a USGA/CGA handicap to be eligible. CGA Staff, executive committee members and their families are ineligible. Prizes will change annually.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
