Patty Moore Captures 15th Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur Championship
Blythewood, SC – Final results of the 15th Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Championship hosted by Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood-Tall Pines) on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Par 36-36—72 5688 yards.
Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC captures her 16th CGA title and her 7th Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Championship crown after defeating Ashley Rose of N. Augusta, SC on the first playoff hole of sudden death. Rose was plugging along most of the day with a two shot lead but her putter seemed to leave her on the final two holes in regulation. “I had a long putt on the 17th green, which I knew would be a hard putt to read. Unfortunately it didn’t hold the line and I was on the wrong side of the hole to begin with,” Rose said.
Moore, who hasn’t won a CGA championship since 2011, was ecstatic with the win. “This means a lot to me. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the winner’s circle.” Moore had to make a two foot downhill putt to make par on the final hole of regulation while Rose had to get up-and-down for the win. “I was going for birdie on the final hole,” Moore said. “Luckily it all worked out in my favor.”
In the tournament division Carole Jones of Hillsborough, NC captured the super senior prize after shooting a 75-80—155. This division plays a shorter course.
Players will be placed into flights within their division for the final round.
