NC Ams Win Tar Heel Cup Again

WALLCE, NC – Final results of the 22^nd Tar Heel Cup Matches hosted by River Landing in Wallace, NC on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 (6940 yards, par 72).

The North Carolina Amateur held a 3-1 lead after Monday’s four-ball matches, but the North Carolina Professional team earned 4.5 of a possible 8 points in the singles session to make a valiant comeback.  Their comeback fell just short as the North Carolina Amateurs won the 22^nd Tar Heel Cup Matches by a 6.5-5.5 final score.

Eight North Carolina amateur golfers are squaring off against eight North Carolina PGA Professionals in the 22^nd Tar Heel Cup Matches.  The two day match play event began on Monday at River Landing on the River Course.

The amateur team retained the cup in 2015 at River Landing by tying the Carolinas PGA (CPGA) Professionals 6-6. With the 2016 victory by the Amateurs, the CPGA Professionals still lead the all-time record at 13-6-3. Since 2010, the Amateurs have gone 4-0-3 and have held the Tar Heel Cup since 2012.

This event is jointly conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association and the Carolinas PGA Section.
