REGULAR LEAGUE: (Matches Completed = 212, Matches Remaining = 13)
Only 13 regular season matches remain and all are in the REGULAR LEAGUE.
In last week’s REGULAR LEAGUE matches, last year’s champions from River Hills CC (at 2 and 3) could not afford another loss. Following a 7 point home win (12 ½ to 5 ½) over Highland Creek CC #2, the four time Interclub champs secured their 2016 playoff spot and a chance to defend.
Over the past two week-ends, three critical matches were contested in Pod “RO” resulting in all four teams (Palisades CC #1, Pine Island CC, Northstone CC #1 and Verdict Ridge CC) a playoff invitation. Pine Island CC, which had already qualified, dropped two matches (8½ to 9½ vs the Palisades CC #1 and a 5 to 13 loss vs Verdict Ridge CC). In the other match, Northstone CC #1 defeated Verdict Ridge CC at home on July 30 (12 to 6). Verdict Ridge CC and Pine Island CC completed their regular season with identical 3 and 3 records. Palisades CC #1 and Northstone CC #1 finished at 2-2-2.
Some playoff contention matches scheduled this coming week-end will result in the winner advancing to the post season.
· Pod “RH” - Wilson CC at Cutter Creek
· Pod “RM” – Springfield GC at Raintree CC
· Pod “RO” - Macgregor Downs CC at Highland Creek CC
Other matches involving teams still in contention depending on the outcome:
· Pod “RE” Forest Oaks CC at Lonnie Poole GC. This is the final regular season match in the Pod. If Forest Oaks wins they advance with a 3 & 3 record. If Lonnie Poole wins they will tie for 2nd place in the Pod (a guaranteed playoff spot) with the Club at 12 Oaks. The tie-breaker (accumulated head to head match points) will be used to send one team to the playoffs. If this match ends in a tie, there will be a 2nd place playoff involving Forest Oaks CC and the Club at 12 Oaks.
· Pod “RJ” Mountain Aire GA at New River CC. New River needs a win to advance. A loss will result in a three way tie for 3rd in this five team Pod.
· Pod “RP” The Club at Longview at TPC Piper Glen #2. A TPC Piper Glen #2 win guarantees them a playoff spot.
· Pod “RQ” TPC Piper Glen #1 at Pine Lake CC. At 2 and 3, a Pine Lake CC win guarantees all four teams in this Pod (Firethorne CC and Providence CC) a playoff match.
45 REGULAR LEAGUE teams have qualified for a playoff spot. Another 17 teams remain in contention.

2016 SENIOR Interclub Playoff Bracket Announcement - August 12:
The 2016 SENIOR Interclub Playoff Bracket is complete (see below). 32 teams earned a playoff spot based on final standings within each Pod and overall. All 1st, 2nd, and in some cases 3rd place teams automatically qualified. In addition, teams with a .500 record or better also earned an automatic bid. To complete the 32 team playoff bracket, overall points (3 points for a match win and 1 point for a match tie) followed by accumulated match points determined the remaining invitations.
The 32 team bracket was split into an East and a West region based on location. Teams were then seeded 1 – 16 in each region based on their regular season record. Some minor seeding adjustments were made to reduce travel times as much as possible. Round 1 matchups avoided teams playing each other from the same Pod.
