The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced that the champion of the inaugural Carolinian Amateur will receive an exemption into the 102nd Carolinas Amateur at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. on July 14-17, 2016. The Carolinian Amateur will be played May 20-22, 2016 at Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, NC. The Carolinian will also be used for Carolinas amateur rankings and has been added to the World Amateur Rankings 2016 calendar, but will be on probation in 2016 with inclusion in 2017.
An anticipated field of 144 golfers will compete on the Ellis Maples designed Orange and Black nines that opened for play in 1974 and has hosted six CGA championships, including the Carolinas Junior (1991), the NC Junior (1982), the NC Senior (1998-1999), the N.C. Four-Ball (2009) and the N.C. Senior Women’s (2006) along with numerous USGA amateur qualifying tournaments.
