The Tom Fazio designed course at Bright's Creek Golf Club |
This will be the first CGA championship hosted by Bright's Creek Golf Club, a Tom Fazio design that uncovers the subtle beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Mill Spring, North Carolina. A number of mountain streams meander through the course, which sits in a valley, surrounded by impressive mountain ridges. Every direction one looks during the round presents a breathtaking view.
In last year's championship, Joe Jaspers of Huntersville played all three rounds under-par to edge the #1 ranked player in the Carolinas, Scott Harvey of Greensboro and Daniel Neveu of Pinehurst by one shot.
Six-time CGA champion Matthew Crenshaw of Burlington makes his first championship start of 2015 after being sidelined while recovering from wrist surgery. Crenshaw tied for fourth place in last year's N.C. Mid-Amateur.
Past N.C. Mid-Amateur champions in the field include Joe Jaspers of Huntersville (2014), Brian Westveer of Charlotte (2011), Paul Tucker of Waxhaw (2009), and Kelly Miller of Southern Pines (1994).
