Bae Wins 3rd Creed Boys' Invitational
Bae Tops Field Final Results Camden, SC – Final round results from the 3rd Creed Junior Boys’ Invitational at Camden Country Club on May 23, 2015. (YARDAGE 6,326, PAR 70, COURSE RATING 70.9) Camden, South Carolina is known as a horse country. So it was no surprise that the 3rd creed boys invitational was a two horse race between Eric Bae of Pinehurst, NC and Walker Simas of Charlotte, NC with Bae coming out the victor by a one shot margin. Bae entered the day with a one shot lead but quickly saw that disappear as he went out with a 38 to Simas’ 35. “I pretty much kept my thoughts together as I knew there are not to many birdie holes on the backside and so I wanted to be ready for a long backside,” said Bae about the battle. The two went neck and neck down the home stretch, neither willing to back down. With a two shot lead on 18, Baes tee shot found an adjacent fairway forcing him to punch out. Simas looked to capitalize on Baes error hitting his approach shot to 35 feet, then draining the putt for a birdie 3. Bae, unfazed dropped his 20 foot par putt from along the same line securing the title of the 3rd Creed Boys’ Invitational Champion.
Brady Hinkle of Lancaster, SC had the round of the day with a two under par 68 solidifying solo third place overall, as well as first place in the 15-16 age division. Jamie Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Charles Dallery of Sumter, SC and Holden Grigg of Myrtle Beach,SC finished tied for fourth overall with total scores of 146. Grigg played in the final group today, hanging tough until a double bogey on the par 3, 16th took him out of contention but his combined score of six over par was enough for first place in the 13-14 age division. Drew Weary of Bluffton, SC finished second in the 13-14 division, while Zach Brown of Advance, NC finished third. Ben Woodruff of Huntersville, NC shot a second round 71 to capture second place in the 15-16 division. Tyler Gray of Lugoff, SC and Matt Moninghoff of Blythewood, SC finished tied for third in the boys 15-16 division with total scores of 150.
The Camden Country Club Board of Directors created the Creed Junior Boys’ Invitational in 2013 to honor Mr. Jimmy Creed of Camden, SC for his support of junior golf at Camden Country Club. Mr. Creed passed away in October of 2012 as one of the most popular and well thought of members at Camden Country Club. “He loved kids and was very supportive of the junior golfers at the club,” said Camden CC head professional Matt McCarley. McCarley added, “He was a former junior champion here at the club and made it to the semi-finals of the CGA four ball championship.” Proceeds from the tournament will go to a scholarship foundation to help local kids.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
Now in its 106th year, the CGA annually conducts 43 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 140 One-Day (net and gross) events and qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGA serves golf in the Carolinas with numerous programs such as: the USGA Handicap System; tournament management software and support; course measuring and course/slope ratings; agronomy consultation; answers about the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, and Handicapping; Carolinas Golf Magazine; Interclub series; Tarheel Youth Golf Association; Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame; expense assistance for USGA Junior and Girls' Junior qualifiers from the Carolinas; and the Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF). The CGF has distributed more than $1,500,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
