NC Amateur Match Play Rounds of 32 and 16 Results

WALLACE, NC – Rounds of 16 and 32 match play results of the 5^th North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by River Landing (Landing) in Wallace, NC on Friday, August 1, 2014.
 
After a 7 hour and 45 minute rain delay and a little creativity by the CGA staff, the match play portion of the North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship began despite adverse weather and course conditions. Due to the amount of rainfall in the Wallace area Friday morning into the early afternoon, course fairways and teeing grounds had become unplayable. However the putting green surfaces were playable so the staff moved tee markers on each hole to the driest spot possible in the fairway. Therefore course was shortened to a 3075 yard 18-hole par 54 course with holes ranging in length from 130-yards to 245-yards.
 
The Round of 32 was completed and three out of eight Round of 16 matches were finished. Unfinished matches will resume play on Saturday morning at 8:00am. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Saturday with the championship match scheduled for Sunday morning weather permitting.
