Team Adams Adds Another Title at the Carolinas Mixed Team Championship
Southport, NC – Final results of the 9th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship hosted by The Players Club at St. James Plantation on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Par 36-36---72 6466 and 5603 yards. Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, NC fire a 6-under 66---135 to win their 7th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship title by eight shots over Michael and Virginia Mayer of New London, NC. “Debbie played great today,” beamed Anthony (Adams). “She would drive the ball in a perfect position on almost every hole so I could take advantage of the iron and approach shots to the green. We both putted well when we needed to,” added Debbie. Team Adams carded seven birdies in the often difficult modified alternate shot format. “It feels good to be back in the winner’s circle,” laughed Anthony.
In the tournament division Steve and Tracie Clark of Midland, NC shot a 76—152 to win by three shots over first round leaders Todd and Cass Manley of Charleston, SC. This division plays a shorter course. (5923 and 4902 yards).
Dan and Deborah Beasley of Waynesville, NC shot an even par round of 72----147 to earn the overall Senior title for another year. “I thought we were getting too “super senior” to win again,” laughed Deborah. “We’re happy with the way we played together today. It was a lot of fun.”

The championship format consisted of one round of four-ball stroke play following a final round of modified alternate shot. This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golf for all abilities in South and North Carolina.
