The Carolinas Golf Association has announced that Wilson Country Club in Wilson, NC will host the 49th NC Junior Boys’ Championship on June 21-24, 2016.  An anticipated field of 144 golfers will compete on the Willard Byrd and John LaFoy designed course that has hosted 8 CGA championships dating back to 1983 along with many other prestigious amateur and professional events.  This will be the first time Wilson CC has hosted the NC Junior Boys’ Championship.

Ashley Fuquay of Greensboro, NC posted a two-under par 69 to earn medalist honors.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (March 2, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced The Race to the Carolinas Cup, a new women’s golf program in 2016. Much like the LPGA Tour’s Race to the CME Globe or the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup, the Race to the Carolinas Cup is a season-long points competition in which players accumulate points based on team finish and participation in CGA Ladies’ Four-Ball Play Days.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (February 29, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) has announced the addition of the inaugural Carolinian Amateur to the 2016 tournament schedule. The event is a 54-hole stroke play tournament for male amateur golfers ages 16 and older who have a USGA handicap index of 7.4 or lower at a CGA member club.  It will be contested on May 20-22, 2016 at Keith Hills Golf Club (Orange-Black) in Buies Creek, N.C.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (February 21, 2016) -- On February 19, 2016, the Carolinas Golf Association’s annual meeting was held at the Country Club of Charleston. Lawrence Hicks of Greensboro, N.C., was elected to serve a two-year term as 55th president of the Association. The 63-year-old Hicks, a retired entrepreneur, has served on the CGA’s Executive Committee since 2006. He was elected secretary in 2012 and vice president in 2014.

Nick Willis of Spartanburg, SC has been named the recipient of the David Parrott Award for 2015 by the Carolinas Golf Association.  Willis, the 2015 SC Junior Match Play Champion, was selected from the eight members that represented the Carolinas Golf Association in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches at Boonsboro CC in Lynchburg, VA this past August.
