CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 29, 2020) –  The HV3 Foundation and the Carolinas Golf Association have announced the inaugural Daniel Meggs Memorial Junior golf tournament.  The tournament will be contested at Providence Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 and will be conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.  An anticipated field of 84 juniors will compete on the course originally designed by Dan Maples and redesigned by Mike Gleason before architect Kris Spence renovated the course in 2018.

The CGA remains committed to safely conducting as many of its events as we possibly can while navigating the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on recommendation from government officials, all CGA and TYGA events remain suspended through May 28.  Registration remains open for all events that are scheduled after May 28.  All players that register will remain in "pending" status.  This means you can effectively hold a spot in a tournament without being charged. So far, golf courses across the Carolinas have been extended the privilege of staying open as long as they follow strict CDC guidelines. SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (April 1, 2020) -- Three CGA alumnae including Gina Kim, Rachel Kuehn and Emilia Migliaccio, have been selected to represent the United States in the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup. Dan Brooks, the Duke women's golf head coach and one of this year's Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame inductees, will lead the U.S. squad.

At the Carolinas Golf Association, we are committed to the health and well-being of our members and member clubs throughout the Carolinas. To reduce the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak conditions on our golfers, employees, volunteers and member club personnel, we have decided to suspend all CGA and TYGA events through May 10. We do not make this decision lightly, but on the recommendation of government health officials and other leaders, we believe this is the prudent move.

Golf courses all over the Carolinas are incorporating a variety of creative measures to help minimize any possible exposure to coronavirus to their golfers. Many courses have removed bunker rakes, have made adjustments to their holes and have asked their members not to touch or remove the flagstick. Because of this, we have received several inquires from golfers asking how the altered rules during the COVID-19 era will impact the rules of golf and our ability to submit a score to GHIN.

Given the recent CDC guidance and the evolving dynamics of the Coronavirus pandemic, the USGA announced today that it has canceled its first two 2020 championships, the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball, originally scheduled for April 25-29 at Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Fla., and the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, originally scheduled for May 23-27 at Philadelphia (Pa.) Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the CGA/TYGA will place all tournament entries on a “Pending List” in the order they are received. 

This means you can effectively hold a spot in a tournament without being charged. Once we confirm that the tournament will be played as scheduled, or played at a rescheduled date your credit card will be charged.

Due to the rapidly-changing situation resulting from the coronavirus, the Carolinas Golf Association and Tarheel Youth Golf Association have decided to temporarily suspend all scheduled CGA and TYGA competitive and non-competitive events through April 5.
