SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (August 7, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) will conduct the 12th Dogwood State Junior Championship at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, N.C. from Tuesday-Thursday, August 9-11.

After over 12 hours on the golf course, the Carolinas leads the Virginias 4.5 to 3.5 after day one of the 34th Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches.  Play started at 8:20 am on the River course at River Landing CC in Wallace, NC with four foursome (alternate shot) matches.  The Carolinas team, representing the Carolinas Golf Association, had good luck in the morning winning 3 of 4 matches and took a 3-1 lead heading into the afternoon fourball matches.

Preston Edmondson of Morrisville and Ed Byman of Raleigh went wire-to-wire to win the 16th NC Senior Four-Ball Championship hosted by Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton. Edmondson and Byman fired a tournament low 62 in the first round and never looked back as they both captured their first CGA Championship.
