(January 2, 2019) – The Carolinas Golf Association’s 2019 championship season gets an early start with the 10th Carolinas Young Amateur to be held January 3-4, 2019 on the Magnolia Course at Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. The tournament format is 36 holes of stroke play for male and female amateur golfers ages 18 to 25 who have finished high school and have a current USGA handicap Index at a CGA member club. Lauren Stephenson is hands down one of the best amateur golfers, male or female, to come out of the Carolinas. The Carolinas Golf Association is saddened to learn the news of the passing of Lewis Dean Cassell. Cassell was inducted in the Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame in 2016 alongside Johnny Harris.
