SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (October 5, 2017) -- Youth on Course — the non-profit organization providing young people with subsidized golf rounds, college scholarships, caddie programs and paid internships – partners with the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) to bring rounds for “$5 or less” to junior golfers in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Born in 2006, Youth on Course subsidizes greens fees to remove cost as a barrier to entry for potential lifetime golfers. With the addition of North Carolina and South Carolina, Youth on Course is now active in 19 states, with over 30,000 members ages 6-18.

“By partnering with the CGA, Youth on Course gains strategic ally to provide young people with increased access to the game of golf,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “We want to thank our partners across the country that have helped drive membership over 30,000 and moved us closer to our goal of delivering affordable golf in all 50 states by 2020.”

With over 730 member golf courses, the CGA, in conjunction with the Carolinas PGA, South Carolina Golf Association, and Women's South Carolina Golf Association, will begin implementing the Youth on Course model in early 2018. Funds raised by these associations will go toward round subsidies as facilities across the states begin to adopt the program.

“Youth on Course is the ideal partner to continue The First Tee initiatives in the Carolinas that introduce juniors to the game of golf,” says CGA President Lawrence Hicks. “By aligning with Youth on Course, the CGA receives a proven model for providing junior golfers with affordable access to area courses.”

Youth on Course has surpassed 550,000 subsidized rounds to date and exceeded $1,200,000 in awarded college scholarships to deserving members. Alumni of the organization’s internship and caddie programs have also gone on to be collegiate golfers and productive members of the industry.

Support for Youth on Course drives the organization’s growth across America. This year the program has been recognized by The Golf Channel and Golf Digest as an essential bridge between youth instruction and consistent play throughout adulthood. NBA MVP and Charlotte, N.C. native Steph Curry is a vocal ambassador of the program.
