Wallace, NC - Final results of the 21st Tar Heel Cup co-conducted by the Carolinas PGA Section (CPGA) and the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) hosted by River Landing Country Club (River) in Wallace, NC on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 (6942 yards, par 72).
The 21st Tar Heel Cup Matches finished in a 6 to 6 tie after two days of play at River Landing Country Club's River course in Wallace, NC.
Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from North Carolina met to conduct these friendly annual matches.
With each match worth one point, the Carolinas PGA Professionals (CPGA) jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first day's four-ball matches. However, the amateurs battled hard to win five of the eight singles matches on the final day.
It takes 6½ points to win the cup outright. Since the matches finished in a 6-6 tie, the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) will retain the cup until next year. The Professionals' all time record is now 13 wins, 5 losses, and 3 ties; however, the amateurs are on a six-year unbeaten streak with a 3-0-3 record since 2010.
Both the Carolinas PGA Section and the Carolinas Golf Association extend their sincere thanks to the members and staff of River Landing for their incredible hospitality.
