GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Final results of the 40th Carolinas Club Championship on the Ross course at Sedgefield Country Club on Monday, October 30 (Par 35-36--71. Course Rating: 73.3, 138).
Sedgefield Country Club captured the 40th Carolinas Club Championship with a score of nine-under par 62. Representing the host club, Head Professional Eric Ferguson and amateur Scott Harvey carded nine birdies on their round to secure a three-shot victory. The pair beat out the Colonial Country Club team consisting of amateur Davis Womble and Professional Ben Miller by three strokes to capture their second Carolinas Club Championship.
After opening their round with a birdie on the first hole, they continued to cruise to a five-under-par 30 on the front. The duo continued their assault on the Donald Ross layout on the back adding 4 more birdies. "It was playing very difficult today, every putt you had, you had to pay attention to it or it could get away" said Ferguson. "The greens are in really good shape right now and made for a great tournament" added Ferguson. Harvey played a very impressive round with nine birdies. "I did not really see that coming," said the number one ranked Amateur in the Carolinas. The pair will add their names again to the trophy having won it in 2015.
