Preview: 41st Carolinas Mid-Amateur

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (April 14, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 41st Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship at Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood/Tall Pines) in Blythewood, S.C. from April 16 - 18, 2021. The field will play the Ridgewood/Tall Pines routing at 6,965 yards (par 36-36--72).

Columbia Country Club offers 27 holes designed by famed architect Ellis Maples in 1961. These courses pair to make for long, tree lined fairways, vast rough and undulating greens. The championship will be played on the Ridgewood/Tall Pines courses. This will be the first Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship contested at Columbia Country Club.

 

Championship is conducted at 54 holes of stroke play. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final round. An on-course playoff is used to break a tie for the championship. Top 30 scores and ties receive merchandise and are exempt into the 2022 championship. Merchandise certificates are valid until December 31, 2021.


Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 25th birthday by April 16, 2021, maintains a residence in North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 10.4.

8:00 a.m. to 2:26 p.m. Starting times off of #1 and #10

Field cut to low 60 scores and ties for final round

 

Sunday, April 18

Final Round - 18 Holes of Individual Stroke Play

8:00 a.m. to 9:48 a.m. Starting times off of #1 and #10

 

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
