Pat Brogden of Garner, N.C. completed a wire-to-wire victory at Greensboro Country Club's Irving Park Course to hoist the Patty Moore trophy as the 19th Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur champion.

The championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play (no cut). All players, regardless of Handicap Index, have the option to play in the Championship Division or the Carolinas Division, which plays a shorter course.

Brogden finished with a two-day total of one-over-par (72-73--145) to win by an impressive ten stroke margin. Lea Anne Brown of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., finished second (75-80--155). The Irving Park Course has now brought Brogden two CGA titles. When the North Carolina Senior Women's Championship was held there in 2012, she edged Patty Moore of Charlotte, N.C. by one stroke. "I think my game's in a better place now," said the 63-year-old Brogden. "I've learned so much since I've retired. I get to play more, practice more, and my preparation for tournaments is better than it used to be." In April, Brogden again won the North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur.

The victory is Brogden's sixth at the Carolinas Senior Women's Amateur. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would win it this many times," said Brogden, the top-ranked senior women's golfer in the Carolinas. "To win this year is special, with the trophy now named for Patty Moore."

"She is without a doubt, the most prolific champion we have," continued Brogden, who with 12 CGA overall titles, now trails Moore by seven. "I'm working hard to catch her! I don't know if it's going to happen, but I'm very proud."

In the Carolinas Division, Sook Hee Yang of Jamestown, N.C. put together rounds of 71-72 to finish the championship at one-under-par. This division plays a shorter course.

Barbara Munnett of Winston-Salem, N.C. (pictured left) overcame first round co-leaders Carole Jones of Hillsborough, N.C. and Diane Yelovich of Pinehurst, N.C. to claim the Low Super Senior award in the Carolinas Division. The award is given to the lowest score in the Carolinas Division (shorter course) who is over the age of 65.

The Carolinas Golf Association wishes to thank the members and staff of Greensboro Country Club for their hospitality hosting this championship.

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 50th birthday by the first day of the championship, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 40.4.
