Final Results
Jensen Castle of West Columbia, SC shot a round of two under par 70 to give her a one shot lead heading into Sunday’s final round of the 9th Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship. Castle, a seventh grader, birdied all four of the par fives on the Pine Island CC course in Charlotte, NC. “I was putting the best and hitting some good shots,” said Castle after the round. In only her second time playing in the Vicki DiSantis Castle will sleep on the lead. Castle, who is one of the youngest players in the field, has a mindset for tomorrows’ final round, “play smart and give it all you got.”
Two time Carolinas Junior Girls’ champion Kelli Murphy of Elgin, SC is one shot back at 71 and Anna Redding of Concord, NC is two shots back with a round of even par 72. Defending champion Madison Moosa of Charlotte, NC sits five shots back with a first round of 75.
Sunday’s starting times begin at 8:00 am off #1 and #10 with the leaders starting at 10:06 off the first tee.
This annual junior girls’ championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association in honor of Mrs. Vicki DiSantis of Pinehurst, NC for her dedication and service to junior girls’ golf in the Carolinas.
