SIX MILE, S.C. – Second round results of the 47th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship hosted by The Cliffs at Keowee Springs in Six Mile, S.C. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 (6392 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.0/136).
Jim Grainger of Charlotte, N.C. and Rick Cloninger of Fort Mill, S.C. posted a second round bogey-free 65 to stand at 126 (18-under par) and take a five stroke lead heading into the final round at The Cliffs at Keowee Springs.
Gary Robinson of Fayetteville, N.C. and Keith Waters of Raleigh, N.C. carded a 69 to remain in second place at 131.
Defending champions Ron Carpenter of Creedmoor, N.C. and Gary Brown of Charlotte, N.C. posted a second straight 69 and is currently in a tie for 13th place.
The average score in round two was 72.3.
The championship is contested over 54-holes of four-ball stroke play. After Tuesday’s round, the field of 88 teams was cut to the low 30 scores and ties for the final round on Wednesday. The cut line fell at 141. Final round is an 8:30am shotgun start due to possible weather conditions.

The Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by April 27, is a resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
Now in its 106th year, the CGA annually conducts 43 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 140 One-Day (net and gross) events and qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGA serves golf in the Carolinas with numerous programs such as: the USGA Handicap System; tournament management software and support; course measuring and course/slope ratings; agronomy consultation; answers about the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, and Handicapping; Carolinas Golf Magazine; Interclub series; Tarheel Youth Golf Association; Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame; expense assistance for USGA Junior and Girls' Junior qualifiers from the Carolinas; and the Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF). The CGF has distributed more than $1,500,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
