Final Results of 2018 TYGA Tournament of Champions

CLATYON, NC  (August 22, 2018) – Daniel Adkins of Holly Springs shot a pair of one-under par 71s to win the Boys’ 16-18 flight as well as the Boys’ Overall flight (6,659 Yards, Par 36-36—72, 71.9/134) at the 2018 TYGA Tournament of Champions. Adkins made 3 birdies against 2 bogeys in the final round to ease to victory by 6 shots over Grady Newton of Winston-Salem who shot rounds of 73 and 75. The third place tie at 149 was won by Jackson Neal of Concord with his back 9 35 to beat Owen Swavely of Mooresville, who shot rounds of 73 and 76.

Jayla Rogers of Wilmington coasted to a 10 shot victory in the Girls’ 14-18 and Girls Overall flights (5,630 Yards, Par 36-36—72, 68.0/122) with rounds of 75 and 74. Rogers played The Neuse’ difficult back 9 well with scores of 38 and 38. Trinity Ahing of New Bern finished 2nd at 159, one shot ahead of Carmen Tucker of Fayetteville at 160.

Owen Kose of Holly Springs took home the Boys’ 14-15 title with rounds of 74 and 73 to win by 3 shots. Chase Cheatham of Lincolnton finished second at 150. The 3rd place tiebreaker was won by Caden Baker of Mebane over Walker Isley of Oak Island. Both players shot rounds of 78 and 73, round 2 back 9s of 37, and last 6 holes of 25. Baker won with a last 3 holes of 13 to Isley’s 14.    

Emily Matthews of Mebane ran away with the Girls’ 12-13 flight (5,229 yards, Par 36-36—72, 70.8/128) by 15 shots with rounds of 82 and 76. Matthews made 2 birdies on her second 9 Wednesday to seal the victory. Ayana Dailey of Jacksonville finished second at 173 and Kitson O’Neal of Pinehurst finished 3rd at 179.  

Parks Helms of Fayetteville fired rounds of 70 and 76 to win the Boys’ 12-13 flight (5,630 Yards, Par 36-36—72, 68.0/122) by 4 shots. Drew Greene of Greenville finished 2nd at 150 with rounds of 75 and 75. Hudson Schulze of Charlotte finished 3rd at 151.

Conner Freedman of Chapel Hill won the 11 & Under flight with 70 modified Stabelford points after scoring 35 in both round 1 and round 2. Freedman birdied the difficult par 3 7th hole both days to rack up the points. Pennson Badgett of Pilot Mountain finished 2nd with 65 points and Lake Williams of Greenville finished 3rd with 63.
