Columbia Country Club Hosts Carolinas Women's Senior Oct. 1-2

WEST END, NC -- The Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur Championship will be conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, October 1-2 at Columbia Country Club in Blytewood, SC.

Pat Brogden of Garner, N.C. will attempt to defend her title in the Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur Championship at Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, S.C. 

The 15th playing of this event will take place October 1-2 with 36 holes of stroke play.  Last year, at the Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure, N.C., Brogden finished with a five-over-par total of 149 for a two-stroke victory over Dr. Angela Stewart of Greenville, N.C.

Brogden, who has claimed this championship three times, is an eight-time CGA championship winner.

Entry was open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 50th birthday by October 1, who is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, who is a member in good standing of a CGA member club and who has a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club. 

The starting field of 44 competitors is divided into two divisions.  The championship competitors will play a longer course than those who play in the tournament division.  Players picked their divisions at time of entry.

Columbia Country Club offers 27 holes designed by famed architect Ellis Maples in 1961.  The championship will be contested on the Ridgewood-Tall Pines courses.
