Castle lead Anderson Girls' by one after round one
First round results of the 9th Jimmy Anderson Girls' Invitational at Jacksonville CC in Jacksonville, N.C. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 (5,693 yards, Par 35-37--72, Course Rating 73.5/123).
Jensen Castle of West Columbia, S.C. leads after the first round of the 9th Jimmy Anderson Girls' Invitational by one headed into Sunday's final round. Castle, a high school junior, shot a round of two under par 70 and has a one shot lead over Emily Hawkins of Lexington, N.C. Castle, starting on the back side, played her first nine hole in three under par that included an eagle of the converted par five eighteenth hole. Castle had a tougher time with her second nine which included three birdies, two pars and four bogeys.
Tied in third place two shots back at even par 72 are Haeley Wotnosky of Wake Forest, N.C. and Kendall Turner of Chesapeake, VA. A group of five girls' sits three shots back after rounds of 73. A total of 11 players are within four shots of the lead with one round left to be played. Sunday's starting times begin at 8 am off number one and number ten tees. The final group is scheduled to begin at 9:44 am off the first tee.
This annual junior girls tournament is conducted jointly by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Tour and the Carolinas Golf Association.
