DURHAM, NC (October 3, 2017) – Final results of the 6th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship hosted by Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, NC on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 (Championship Division: 6,200 yards, Par 36-36--72, 70+ Division: 5,650 yards, par 36-36--72).

Seventeen teams began Thursday's final round within four strokes of the lead. After 9 holes of four-ball stroke play in the final round, the team of Ron Carpenter of Creedmoor, NC – Garrett Garland of Huntersville, NC had a three shot lead on their way to victory at Old Chatham Golf Club. Playing in their first four-ball tournament together, the partners were very comfortable, as they only had to count one bogey over 36 holes. “Yesterday was Garrett’s day (round one), he had five birdies,” said Carpenter. Not to be outdone, Carpenter had three birdies and an eagle in his first eight holes in the final round that propelled his team to victory. On the inward nine, the team added three more birdies and came away with a three-shot victory over Robert Desjardins from Mathews, NC – Bill Boles from Wilson, NC. First round co-leaders Don Detweiler of Raleigh, NC – Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC finished in sixth place. Defending champions Russ Perry from Winston-Salem, NC – Mark Stephens from Troutman, NC finished in a tie for eighth place.
In the 70+ Division, a playoff was needed as Gary Schatz of Fort Mill, SC – John Walters of Charlotte, NC defeated Michael McDowell from Charlotte, NC – Pat Brugh from Charlotte, NC on the second playoff hole. This division plays a shorter course.
