Carolinas Roster Set for 59^th Women's Team Matches

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The 59th Carolinas-Virginias Women's Team Matches will be played at Bay Creek Resort's Nicklaus Course in Cape Charles, VA from July 13-15, 2015. This annual team match competition is conducted by the Carolinas, Virginia State, and West Virginia Golf Associations.

The Carolinas-Virginias Women’s Team Matches were originated in 1957. The matches pit some of the best women from around the Carolinas against their Virginia and West Virginia counterparts. Championship competition consists of four-ball and modified four-ball match play. In the format, a point is scored for winning the outward half, the inward nine and the overall match.

The Carolinas team returns 13 golfers from last year's roster. In the 58^th edition of the championship, the 24-golfer Carolinas team posted a wire-to-wire 26-point victory (67-41) over their Virginias counterparts at Porter's Neck Country Club in Wilmington, NC. Carolinas leads all-time in the series.

The traditions of good golf, respectful sportsmanship, and great friendships are reflected in these competitions. Just to be asked if you are available to play is a source of pride to women golfers throughout the Carolinas.

Eligibility: Invitation only. Team members qualify by their finish in various championships, rankings, and captain’s picks.

Format: Day 1: Four-Ball Match Play. Day 2: Modified Alternate Shot. Day 3: Four-Ball Match Play
The matches include 24 players from NC and SC and include three age categories: Regular; Senior (7) and Super Senior (2). A point is scored for winning the outward half, the inward nine and the overall match.

Winner: 108 points available. Carolinas needs 54 points to retain the cup. Virginias needs 54 1/2 points to win the cup.

Terrie Allemang, 55, of Hilton Head, SC - Currently 19th ranked senior women's golfer in the Carolinas. Tied for 6th in this year's WSCGA Senior Championship.

Kelsey Badmaev, 19, of Columbia, SC - 81st ranked women's golfer in the Carolinas. Competed in multiple Carolinas Junior Girls' Team Matches.

Susan Beaupied, 57, of PIttsboro, NC - 11th ranked senior women's golfer. Placed T-6 in the 2014 North & South Women's Senior Amateur.

Kim Briele, 54, of New Bern, NC - Reigning North Carolina Women's Senior champion. Third ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer. Two-time CGA champion. Reached match play Round of 64 at 2014 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.

Lea Anne Brown, 55, of Mt. Pleasant, SC - Won this year's WSCGA Senior Championship. Fifth ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer. Reached match play Round of 64 at 2014 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.

Megan Burnham, 23, of Gastonia, NC - former UNC-Wilmington golfer. Member of Gaston Country Club.

Leigh Coulter, 57, of Hopkins, SC - 6th ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer. Placed T-3 at 2015 WSCGA Senior Championship. Finished T-6 at last year's Carolinas Women's Senior Championship. Reached match play Round of 64 at 2014 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.

Linda Daniel, 56, of Huntersville, NC - 91st ranked Carolinas women's golfer. Finished 25th in the 2014 North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship.

Mary Katherine Donovan, 20, of Hampstead, NC - 64th ranked Carolinas women's golfer. Placed 16th in the 2014 Women's Eastern Championship.

Karen Ferree, 64, of Hilton Head, SC - Three-time CGA champion. 19th ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer.

Cecilia Fournil, 40, of Columbia, SC - Qualified for 2014 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship. 79th ranked women's golfer in the Carolinas.

Savannah Hallman, 20, of Mt. Pleasant, SC - Rising sophomore at Charleston Southern University. Placed T-23 at this year's Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship.

Hayley Hammond, 23, of Mooresville, NC - Two-time CGA champion. Won the 2014 Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship with Lea Venable.

Mallory Hetzel, 28, of Waynesville, NC - 6-time CGA champion. Currently ranked third women's golfer in the Carolinas. Head coach of the Western Carolina women's golf program. Qualified for 2014 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

Mary Katelyn Holanek, 21, of Cary, NC - Rising senior at Campbell University. Won the 2013 Moore County Women's Open Amateur. 36th ranked women's golfer in the Carolinas.

Rachel Jones, 20, of Asheboro, NC - Rising junior at UNC-Chapel Hill. Advanced to the Round of 16 at last year's Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship.

Alexis Kershaw, 19, of Winston-Salem, NC - Former CGA junior girls' golfer. Shot 83-84-77 at this year's Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship at Treyburn Country Club.

Courtney McKim, 24, of Raleigh, NC - Ranked 9th in the Carolinas. Placed fourth at this year's Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship and T-5 at last year's North Carolina Women's Amateur. Former University of Alabama golfer.

Patty Moore, 65, of Charlotte, NC - All-time women's leader in overall CGA titles (17). Second ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer.  2014 North Carolina Women's Senior champion. Reached match play Round of 64 at 2014 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur. Seven-time CGA Senior Women's Player of the Year.

Kelli Murphy, 19, of Elgin, SC - Three-time CGA champion. Rising sophomore at Auburn University. 2012 Carolinas Junior Girls Player of the Year.

Dr. Angela Stewart, 61, of Greenville, NC (co-captain) - Finished runner-up at both last year's Carolinas Women's Senior Championship and this year's North Carolina Women's Senior Championship. Advanced to Match Play Round of 32 in last year's U.S. Senior Women's Amateur. Fourth ranked senior women's golfer in the Carolinas. Advanced to match play with partner Rachel Carpenter at this year's inaugural U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship.

Lea Venable, 41, of Simpsonville, SC - Three-time CGA champion. Qualified for 2014 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

Anne Washington, 58, of Myrtle Beach, SC (captain) - Tenth ranked Carolinas senior women's golfer. Placed eighth in last year's Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur Championship. Finished 16th in the 2014 North & South Senior Women's Amateur.

Gabby Weiss, 19, of Southern Pines, NC - Rising sophomore at James Madison University. Finished in 8th place a this year's Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship.
