Carolinas Jr Girls Preview

Lauren Martin of Mooresville, N.C. looks to capture her first CGA title at the Carolinas Girls' 15 & Under Championship in Whispering Pines, N.C. from July 9-10, 2018.

WHISPERING PINES, N.C. (July 5, 2018) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 12th Carolinas Girls 15 & Under Championship at Country Club of Whispering Pines in Whispering Pines, N.C. from July 9-10, 2018.

Players to watch:

  • Lauren Martin of Mooresville, N.C. is currently ranked No. 32 among junior girls golfers in North Carolina. She has totaled three top-10 finishes thus far in 2018. In June, at the 2018 Carolinas Junior Girls', she finished tied for eleventh after carding a one-under par 71 in the final round.

  • Molly Hardwick of Lexington, S.C., who is currently ranked No. 21 among junior girls golfers in South Carolina, will return to this year's field in hopes of capturing her first CGA title. She has totaled seven top-20 finishes so far in 2018, including finishing 17th at the Carolinas Junior PGA Championship.

  • Mary Kathryn Talledo of Blythewood, S.C. will return to this year's field after finishing tied for eleventh with Molly Hardwick last year. She is currently ranked No. 23 among junior girls' golfers in South Carolina. In 2017, she tallied eight top-10 finishes, including a T6 finish at the CPGA Tilghman Junior.

  • Ella Kue of Kings Mountain, N.C., who is currently ranked in the top-50 among junior girls golfers in North Carolina, will return to this year's field. Last year, she won the junior division, finishing eight strokes ahead of the next competitor. She has had a hot start to her 2018 season, winning three Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Golf Tour events as well as finishing in the top-5 three times.

  • Morgan Ketchum of Winston-Salem, N.C. is currently ranked in the top-50 among junior girls golfers in North Carolina. She has totaled eight top-20 finishes so far in 2018, including qualifying for match play at the North Carolina Junior Girls' and T5 finish at the TYGA Archdale-Trinity Chamber Junior.

  • Macie Burcham of Greensboro, N.C. has had a successful start to her summer season. So far in 2018, she has claimed two Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Golf Tour titles as well as the TYGA Triad One Day at Bryan Park. In June, made it to the quarterfinals of the North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship before being defeated by Finalist Alexis Sudjianto.

  • Adrian Anderson of Murrells Inlet, S.C. is currently ranked No. 35 among junior girls golfers in South Carolina. So far in 2018, she has totaled five top-10 finishes, including snagging the top spot at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Blackmoor tournament and finishing tied for second at the SCJGA's Papa Ed Caddie Classic.

The Pines course combines its length with subtle terrain changes to create a true "inland links" course. It includes 7,094 yards of open course and uses the open, hardpan rough, sparsely covered with the native pine straw and "love grass".
 

The Championship and Junior divisions are conducted at 36 holes of stroke play. The Sub-Junior division is conducted at 18 holes of stroke play (9 holes each day).

Entry is open to any female golfer who has not reached her 16th birthday by July 10, 2018, who has not started college, and maintains a residence in North Carolina or South Carolina.
