In 2005-2006, the Fazio Group oversaw a major renovation of the course, including new greens and bunkers. The beautiful 18-hole Coastal Carolina golf course is consistently maintained to the high standards set by the Fazio organizations design team. Designed to accommodate the casual golfer and to challenge the seasoned professional, the golf course does not disappoint. The fairways are generous in width but with strategically placed fairway bunkers that will catch a wayward tee shot. The true test of Porters Neck CC is in the approach shots to the green. The course has played host to four golf championships sponsored by the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) - 1998 North Carolina Amateur; 2010 Carolinas Senior Four-Ball; 2011 Carolinas Women's Four-Ball; and 2013 North Carolina Mid-Amateur championships.
