16 Clubs Still In Hunt for 2013 Carolinas Interclub Championship

The 1st round of the 2013 CGA Interclub Championship playoffs is complete. 16 teams have advanced to the 2nd round, including last year’s Champions River Hills CC from Lake Wylie, SC. Other past champions advancing include last year’s runner-up Fort Mill GC (2011), and River Run CC (2003).

Team Highlights from Round 1:

Mill Creek GC (Mebane NC) and River Ridge GC (Raleigh NC) was the only match to tie. The playoff lasted 2 holes with River Ridge advancing.

Four matches were won by only 2 points; Pine Brook CC over Chapel Hill CC in the play-in match, The Crossings over Pine Brook CC, Tega Cay over the Links at Stoney Point and Rolling Hills CC over the Members Club at Wildewood/Woodcreek.

Player Highlights from Round 1:

J D Mann posted a 72 for Riverwood GA in a losing battle at Bentwinds CC.

Willow Springs CC Bo Corn and Harry Helmer posted 70's at home against Pine Hollow GC while teammate Troy Haynes carded a 71 at Pine Hollow GC.

Tom Hull from the Crossings shot 71 at home against Pine Brook CC while PBCC's Sutton Slawter led his team with a 72 at home.

River Run CC #1's Mike Arnold shot a 69 at Hope Valley CC as their team advanced to play Lincoln CC.

Paul Mauney and Kevin Thornburg posted 72's to lead Lincoln CC over Oakwoods CC. Daniel Walsh's 69 led Oakwoods in their effort to advance.

Mark Absher shot 70 at Northstone CC to lead the Tanglewood teams win while Rob Fulford shot 71 for NCC at home.

Mill Creek's Richie Burke shot a 69 at River Ridge but lost the team match on the 2nd playoff hole. Dan Teague's 70 and Jack Haskins 71 led River Ridge at home.

Ron Hooper Jr. posted the lowest round in the playoffs so far with a sizzling 67 at Highland Creek in their win over Pine Island CC.

Paul Tucker led his club at Longview with a 70 at home as they beat Providence CC 26-10.

Jason Tannenbaum posted a 68 for Tega Cay to lead his team over the Links at Stoney Point. Chris Barnes led Stoney Point with an away score of 72.

Mike Granger shot 68 at home to lead 2012 runner-up Fort Mill GC over Firethorne CC in their 28-8 win.

2nd round matchups will begin October 13 followed by the quarterfinals by the end of October. Match results are available on the web as soon as scores and results are posted in TPP by each club's captain.
