Anthony and Debbie Adams Lead 8th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship

Myrtle Beach, SC – First round results of the 8th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship hosted by Myrtlewood Golf Club, PineHills course, on Saturday, August 31, 2013. 

Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, NC are currently on their way to capture their 7th CGA Mixed Team title.  The Adams’ duo carded five birdies for the day.  Only two shots back are Shawn and Lea Venable of Simpsonville, SC and Chad and Kadi Meldrum of Aiken, SC.  Teams in the championship division are competing for the overall championship title.

This is the first year that the second round will be modified alternate shot where both players tee off, select the best drive and alternate shots from there until the ball is holed.  “This will bring a lot more interest to the final round,” Adams said.  “It will be interesting to see what happens.  I hope we all won’t need divorce lawyers when it’s all said and done,” laughed Armentrout. 

In the tournament division Mike and Lisa Holland of Rocky Mount, NC shot a 3-under 69 and lead their division by two strokes over Cass and Todd Manley of Charleston, SC.  In the Senior division David and Cynthia Andereck of Mt. Pleasant, SC shot a 2-under 70 and currently lead their division by two strokes over Charles and Leigh Armentrout of Greensboro, NC and Linda and Russ Daniel of Huntersville, NC.  Both of these divisions play a shorter course.

Players were placed into flights within their division using 2/3 of the low handicap index and 1/3 of the high handicap of the team.
