Anthony and Debbie Adams Shoots for Seventh Carolinas Mixed Team Title
WEST END, N.C. – Debbie and Anthony Adams have dominated the CGA Mixed Team Championship, taking six of the first seven titles. The eighth championship is set of August 31-September 1 at the PineHills Course of Myrtlewood Golf Club in Myrtle Beach. The only year they missed the title was in 2011.
The championship is open to any two-player team comprised of a male amateur and a female amateur golfer who have reached their 13th birthday by the first day of the event. Both must: be legal residents of North Carolina or South Carolina, be members in good standing at a club that belongs to the Carolinas Golf Association and have a current USGA handicap index at a CGA club.
The 2013 championship has a new format for the two-round event. Competitors play four-ball stroke play the first day and a modified alternate-shot format the second day. Teams select their division prior to the start of play. These are the: championship division, tournament division on a shorter course, and senior division for males who are 55 or older and females who are 50 and older. Each division is pre-flighted, based on handicaps.
The PineHills course is the only design on the Grand Strand by architect Arthur Hills. It was formerly known as The Pines, but renamed PineHills in 1993, when Hills redesigned it.
