Reona Hirai Shoots 68 to Lead 47th Twin States Junior Girls

Morganton, NC – First round results of the 47th Twin States Junior Girls Golf Championship hosted by Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.  Par 36-36—72 5812 yards.  (74.1/132).

Reona Hirai of Summerville, SC fired a 4-under par round of 68 after carding five birdies and one bogey for the day.  Hirai contributed her solid play to her putting.  “I only had 30 putts today.  I made a long 25 footer on the first hole which seemed to give me confidence in my putter for the rest of the day.”  Hirai, 17, leads by four shots over Gina Kim of Chapel Hill, NC; Alexis Kershaw of Winston-Salem, NC and Maddisen Cox of Easley, SC.

Players will be placed into flights for the final round.  All players will begin at 9:00am in a shot-gun start with the leaders going off hole #1.
