6th Creed Boys' Invitational Preview

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (May 23, 2018) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 6th Creed Boys' Invitational at Camden Country Club in Camden, South Carolina from May 26-27, 2018. Camden CC has hosted the event every year since its inaugural tournament in 2013. This year's field includes a total of 80 players.

Players to watch:

• Last year's co-runner-up, Brady Hinkle, returns to the field looking to grab his second junior title, and first since 2016. The Lancaster, S.C. native is ranked fifth in the SCJGA rankings and shot a one-over, 141 in last year's competition that included a five-under final round.

• The other co-runner-up, Tyler Gray, will also be coming back for another try at the title. A win would give Gray his first career CGA title. Gray, from Lugoff, S.C., shot his one-over, 141 with consistent play, posting a one-over 71 in the first round and an even-par 70 in the second round.

• Already a junior champion this year, Kenan Poole will look to claim his second junior title of 2018 in as many starts. Poole won The 10th Jimmy Anderson Boys' Invitational this past April with a 3-under 141.

• Garrett Cooper of Cowpens, S.C. is going to be hoping to improve on his 22nd-place-finish from the previous year. Despite a 10-over gross score, Cooper posted one of the lower scores of the second round with a two-over, 72 and is ranked eighth in the SCJGA rankings.

• Myrtle Beach, S.C. native Keegan Vaugh, is going to be looking to build on his fourth place finish at the Jimmy Anderson Boys' Invitational and secure another top finish this weekend. Vaugh finished 14-over at last year's Creed Invitational, but he shot an even-par, 70 in the first round.

• Joey Pritchard of Whispering Pines, N.C. finished tied for eighth at the Jimmy Anderson Boys' Invitational and is ranked 34th in the TYGA junior boys rankings.

• Pierce Robinson of Kings Mountain, N.C. Robinson, is ranked fifteenth in the TYGA junior boys rankings. Robinson had an outstanding 2017, winning the TYGA Bojangles Junior Open and the TYGA Tournament of Champions.

• Myrtle Beach, S.C. native Holden Grigg won the SC 4A Independent High School Championship in 2017 and the CPGA Junior Championship along with finishing third in the CPGA Charles Tilghman Junior. Grigg is ranked tenth on the SCJGA rankings.

• Thomas Eubanks of Charlotte, N.C. already has five top-ten finishes in 2018 including a third-place-finish at TYGA North State High School Challenge and a fourth-place finish at the TYGA Pinecrest Invitational.

Camden Country Club has played host to the Creed Boys' Invitational since its inception in 2013. The course will play as a par 70 (71.1 / 125), stretching 6,358 yards. The Donald Ross design was recently renovated in 2013 by Kris Spence, giving it a challenging, but inviting layout with pristine conditions and scenic landscapes.


The Creed Boys' Invitational is a 36-hole, stroke play event.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer ages 13 to 18 as of May 27, 2018, who has not started college, who has a USGA handicap of 15.0 or lower, and maintains a residence in North Carolina or South Carolina. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct or cell phone use during a stipulated round.
