Massengill Captures First CGA Championship

Whispering Pines, NC – Final results of the 7^th Carolinas Junior Girls 15 & Under Championship hosted by the Country Club of Whispering Pines on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. 

14-year-old Grace Massengill of Hickory, NCcaptures her first CGA championship title by three stokes over Taylor Hinson of Belmont, NC. 

In the junior division, Anna McDonald of Hickory, NC was able to successful defend her title by shooting a final round of 79—155.  This division plays a shorter course.

Carmen Tucker of Fayetteville, NCcaptured the sub-junior division.  This division plays only 9 holes each day.

This championship was started by the Women’s Carolinas Golf Association seven years ago to assist girls in getting acclimated to tournament golf.  The Carolinas Golf Association assumed responsibility for this championship after the Women’s Carolinas Golf Association dissolved in July 2012.  This is one of seven championships run specifically for girls by the Carolinas Golf Association annually.  For more information on this championship and its history please visit:  https://www.carolinasgolf.org/championship/home/juniorgirls15andunder/year/2013

This annual junior championship was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 104^th year of serving amateur golf in North and South Carolina.
