U.S. Women's Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying Results from Kiawah Island, SC

Kiawah Island , SC – Final results of U.S. Women’s Amateur Sectional Championship Qualifying Hosted by Kiawah Island Resort (Cougar Point) on Monday, July 1, 2013.  Par 36-36—72  6310 yards. Course/Slope Rating:  72.9/129.

Ten players advance on to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship that will be held at the nearby Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, SC on August 5-10, 2013.  The first five players avoided going into a playoff after shooting an even par round of 72 or better.  17-year-old Kelli Murphy of Elgin, SC and local favorite Katelyn Dambaugh of Goose Creek, SC are two local players that are very excited to attend a national championship in their home state.  “I can’t wait to see how it feels to play with the best of the best on a course I’ve won on a few times,” Murphy said.   

17-year old Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgieville, GA earned medalist honors after shooting a 4-under par round of 68.  Katie Petrino of Louisville, KY and Haley Zagoria of Atlanta, GA also punched their tickets to Charleston, SC.  

There was a nine way tie at two over par, 73.  After the first playoff hole, the five remaining spots went to Jessica Vacilic of Anaheim, CA, Yu Liu of China, Anne Marie Covar of Edgefield, SC, Dawn Woodard of Greer, SC and Lily Bartell of Hilton Head, SC.    

This was 1 of 18 national qualifying sites held throughout the country.  This sectional qualifier was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association on behalf of the United States Golf Association.  For more information on this qualifier and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship please visit www.carolinasgolf.org or www.usga.org.
