Madison Moosa Captures 8th Vicki DiSantis Junior Girls Championship
Charlotte , NC – Final results of the 8th Vicki DiSantis Junior Girls Championship hosted by Pine Island Country Club on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Par 35-37—72, 6048 yards.
Heavy winds, rain and chilly weather prevailed during the final round as play was finally called around 2:00pm for unplayable course conditions with no end in sight to the dreary and wet weather. Madison Moosa of Charlotte, NC and Sydney Legacy of Lexington, NC had to go into sudden death to determine a champion after they were tied for the lead following Saturday’s round. Moosa captured her first CGA victory after making a par on the second playoff hole. “I had a mindset to play as well as I could on Saturday (first round) because I had a feeling that the rain was going to be a problem on Sunday,” Moosa said. “My ball striking was pretty good which allowed me to have a lot of chances at birdie out there and I felt pretty confident all day.”
Moosa not only collects her first CGA championship crown but she will also be a part of the Carolinas Junior Girls Team in the Mid Atlantic Junior Girls Team Matches which will be held on July 27-28 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, NC. “This is one of my favorite girls’ tournaments that I play in all year,” smiled Moosa. “I’m also really excited that I finally made the girls team matches too as this has been one of my goals for a while now.”
Catherine Ashworth of Fuquay-Varina, NC had her first ever hole-in-one on the par 3 – 140 yard 4th hole.

This championship was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 104th year serving amateur golf throughout North and South Carolina.
