The Club at 12 Oaks Wins 36th Carolinas Club Championship
DURHAM, NC – Final results of the 36th Club Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Treyburn Country Club in Durham, NC on Monday, April 8, 2013 (Men’s Yardage: 6931; Women’s Yardage: 5626 yards; Par 36-36—72).
The team of Edward Chan of Cary, NC and Timothy Driver of Holly Springs, NC representing The Club at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs, NC posted a six-under par 66 to win the championship by one stroke over North Ridge Country Club and Raleigh Country Club. The amateur-amateur team carded six birdies and no bogeys.
This is The Club at 12 Oaks’ first Club Championship title.
“We started the day off with a nice birdie”, stated Chan. “We each had three birdies and helped each other the entire way around. Driver on the round, “We probably shot 74 or 75 individually, but we cut each other at the right times”.
Defending champions Alamance Country Club of Burlington, NC shot 68 and finished in a tie for 4th.
The Carolinas Club Championship is open to teams comprised of two amateurs (male or female) from the same CGA member club or a golf professional (male or female) and an amateur (male or female) from the same CGA member club.
Amateur winners receive golf shop credit at Treyburn Country Club while golf professionals receive their winnings from the Carolinas PGA Section Office.
This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 104th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
