Wild Dunes Resort’s Harbor Course set a beautiful scene for the final round of the 16th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship. Afternoon thunderstorms suspended play for approximately two hours, but that didn’t stop the field from finding a champion after the modified alternate shot final round.

Jodee Tindal of Rock Hill, S.C. and Jack Parrott of Columbia, S.C. came into the final round tied for the lead with Amanda and Thomas Bonney of Greensboro, N.C. at 5-under-par, 65. The sides battled back-and-forth throughout the front-nine, with the Bonneys taking a one-shot lead through nine.

Tindal and Parrott kicked it into gear on the back-nine starting with a birdie on No. 10 and firing off three consecutive birdies on Nos. 13, 14 and 15 to take a two-stroke lead through No. 15.

“They (The Bonneys) honestly made it so much fun, because every time that I thought we were going to be a shot or two up, they would make a long putt or hit a really good shot,” said Tindal. “It was incredibly competitive out there, but we got along really well with them which made it a very fun day.”

The College of Charleston seniors cruised down the stretch and captured their first team title together with a 4-under-par, 66 final round for a 9-under-par, 131 overall finish. The Bonneys earned runners-up with an impressive 6-under-par, 134 overall finish.

Tindal and Parrott are no strangers to success as they have a combined nine CGA championship titles under their belts, but this win is extra special as it is their first win together as a team. Parrott remarked after their trophy photo was taken, “I am so thankful to be going on her (Tindal) family’s golf wall. That is my dream come true.”

Andrew Flaskerud and Katie Kirk of Charlotte, N.C. took third place at 5-under-par, 135 overall. The 2020 champions Emily Rapp of Greenville, S.C. and Jeremy Moore of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. earned fourth place with a 2-under-par, 138 total finish.

Bill Duncan of Greenville, S.C. and Tatiana de Angulo of Greer, S.C. won the Tournament Division title after two strong rounds of even-par, 70 to finish at even-par, 140. The reigning Carolinas Senior Women’s Champion, Pam Prescott of Piedmont, S.C. and David League of Travelers Rest, S.C. claimed runners-up just one stroke off the lead at 1-over-par, 141 overall.

Frank and Kerry Rutan of Daniel Island, S.C. dominated the Senior Division carding a 7-under-par, 63 in the opening round and a 3-under-par, 67 in the final round today for a total of 10-under-par, 130 overall. The team fired off nine birdies and two eagles over the weekend to earn their seat atop the leaderboard. Jayne Pardus of Mt. Pleasant. S.C. and Scotty Davis of Charleston, S.C. earned second with an impressive 7-under-par, 133 finish.

Anita and Dave Marciniak of Johns Island, S.C. captured the Super Senior Division title at 12-over-par, 152. Fellow Johns Island residents, Cathy and James Martin earned runners-up at 13-over-par, 153.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to thank the members and staff at Wild Dunes Resort, including, Director of Sports, Jeff Minton and Head Golf Professional, Bryan Kelly, for graciously hosting the 16th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship.
