We're Going to Las Vegas!

Responding to post-pandemic requests for great golf getaways, the Carolinas Golf Association proudly announces a brand-new trip to enjoy the hospitality of America’s Entertainment Capital for a 4-day, 3-night golf escape with 3-rounds at some of Las Vegas’ top courses and resort-style stays at the MGM Grand on the famed Las Vegas Strip. The CGA is partnering with Iconic Golf Events to bring Carolina golfers together in a team four-ball event (2 Person Team - stroke play/best ball) – October 4th to the 8th.

“I’ve had a long relationship with Iconic Golf’s Barry Fleming.  He has been producing fun, exciting and competitive events for the past 20 years.  We at the CGA look forward to this, and future events for our membership,” announced CGA Executive Director Jack Nance. “Barry was once a tour pro and his experience creating first-class events will give our membership as professional experience.”

The 4-night, 3-round package is designed for arrival on Monday, October 4th, departing on Friday, October 8th, though there are extra-night package rates available to customize your trip. (FYI-the Raiders host the Bears on Sunday the 10th)

The Golf-

The Wolf Course at Paiute- Less than a half hour from the Strip, the Wolf Course invites you to take a bite out of Paiute’s signature course, marrying a Pete Dye layout with the raw beauty of the Nevada desert, with alternate landing areas, severe undulations and the stunning 15th hole island green.

The Sun Mountain Course at Paiute- Wolf’s sister course, Sun Mountain plays over expansive rolling terrain with enchanting scenery, framed by a monstrous mountain backdrop. The desert landscape and sweeping slope changes make this a favorite of Paiute’s resort staff and it recently hosted a PGA TOUR Korn Ferry Event.

Cascata- Like Elvis, this course only needs one name. The Rees Jones layout is set in the foothills of the River Mountain Range about a half-hour south of the Strip. Soaring 3,200 feet above the desert floor, Cascata (Italian for ‘waterfall’) features a 418-foot waterfall cascading over the mountain above, through the practice area and even through the Tuscan-inspired clubhouse itself! Talk about ‘getaway’!

The Resort-

The MGM Grand- Is there a more famous location on the already-famous Strip in Las Vegas? With accommodations that are an experience in itself, world-class entertainment and nearly a dozen restaurants, the MGM Grand has been a Vegas institution for decades, yet keeps up-to-date with the latest hospitality trends.

The Format-

The competitive format is one that’s produced some great excitement. There will be multiple divisions including Championship, Senior and Mixed/Ladies groupings.

“Time is of the essence,” says Fleming. “With the excitement of finally getting to travel again and the passion of CGA members, this event should fill up quickly. Therefore, we suggest players enter ASAP to guarantee a spot.”
