Holder Defends the Vicki DiSantis Championship Title

Chloe Holder of Williamston, S.C. has done it again. Today, Holder defended her title with a record-shattering 133 overall after firing off a 9-under-par, 64 in the final round.
To say Holder had an outstanding round is an understatement. She broke the 2020 junior girls’ championship record round of 66 by two strokes and broke the previous Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship record of 139 by six strokes. Everything in her game clicked just in time for the last CGA event of her junior career.
“My ball striking was solid today. I think I hit fifteen greens and I was hitting them pretty tight,” said Holder. “Then once I got to the green, if it was within eight feet I felt really confident.”
The two-time CGA Champion’s bogey-free round consisted of a 31 on the front nine and a 33 on the back nine with eight birdies in total. Despite knowing how well she was playing, Holder tried to put every birdie behind her along the way.
“Coming down the stretch it was definitely coming into mind that I was about to win, but I just had to push that aside and tell myself that there is a lot of golf to play,” said Holder. “I kept my pre-shot routine and my mindset the same before every shot on my way in and that really helped.”
After stepping off of the 18th green, the newly minted champion thanked her father, the staff and her competitors for the opportunity to capture her second CGA title. Holder remarked, “Honestly I don’t know if I can put into words just how great it feels. I put in a lot of hard work and dedication just to come out here and play these past two days so really it is surreal and I am so thankful.”
Isabella Rawl of Lexington, S.C. claimed runner-up after finishing the championship with an impressive 5-under-par, 139 total. Rawl was the only player to card an eagle this weekend. Third place and the only other finish under par was captured by Abby Franks of Roebuck, S.C. after a 2-under-par, 142 overall.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
The CGA annually conducts 48 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 150 One-Day (net and gross) events as well as qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGF has distributed nearly $2,000,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
