Two Teams Tied at 52nd Carolinas Senior Four-Ball

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (August 10, 2020) – Suspended first round results of the 52nd Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. on Monday, August 10, 2020.

Threatening thunderstorms slowed down the first round of the 52nd Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship but it didn’t slow down the action on the course. The first round of play was suspended due to lack of daylight but several of our teams were able to finish despite two separate weather delays on Monday afternoon.
Two teams lead the way including the side of Sherrill Britt of West End, N.C. and Lee Forbis of Aberdeen, N.C. and the side of Geno Berchiatti of Greenville, S.C. and Eddie Hargett of Blythewood, S.C. who both fired opening round scores of 7-under, 65. They hold a two-shot lead over their nearest competitors heading into the second round.
One of our 2019 champions, Patrick Brady of Reidsville, N.C., found himself without his partner from 2019 after Steve Harwell received an invite to play in the U.S. Amateur. Brady and his new partner this year, Paul Jett of Southern Pines, N.C. seemed to have found some of that same magic from last year after an opening round score of 5-under, 67 put them in an eight-way tie for third place.
The seven other teams tied for third place include three-time Carolinas Four-Ball champions, Don Detweiler and Paul Simson of Raleigh, N.C. (2008, 2010, 2012), back-to-back Carolinas Four-Ball champions, Mike Gravley of Greer, S.C. and Stan Sill of Spartanburg, S.C., James Pearson and Jim Grainger of Charlotte, N.C., Pat Thompson of Asheville, N.C. and Keith Waters of Raleigh, N.C., Johnny Elam of Charlotte, N.C. and Kevin King of Bluffton, S.C., John Rudolph and Bill Morrissett of Charlotte, N.C. and the side of Keith Hiller of Clemmons, N.C. and Carl Hiller of Raleigh, N.C.
Our first round will conclude Tuesday morning and our second round will begin as planned at 7:30 a.m. off the first tee.
