CGA Welcomes Two New Hires

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (January 16, 2019) -- The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) is proud to announce the hiring of Kevin Duffy and Brandon Hood as Tournament Managers. Both Duffy and Hood will help coordinate and run tournaments such as CGA Championships, USGA qualifiers and one-day tournaments.

“We’re extremely excited to add Kevin and Brandon to the CGA team,” CGA Director of Rules and Competitions Rusty Harder said. “Their experience and expertise will be a big addition as we gear up for the 2019 championship season.”

Hood hails from Franklin, Tennesee; a small town just south of the capital city of Nashville. He started his golf career his junior year of high school by working at a local country club. He then decided to pursue a career in golf by attending Mississippi State University to study Professional Golf Management and Marketing.

In the summer of 2015, Hood interned at a golf course in Phillipsburg, New Jersey where he first learned tournament management. From there, he received an internship with the American Junior Golf Association in the summer of 2017 to assist in operations with tournaments throughout the Northeastern United States. Following graduation from Mississippi State in 2018, Hood returned to the AJGA to serve as Assistant Tournament Director. Throughout his time with the AJGA, Hood operated golf tournaments in nineteen different states, including North Carolina.

“It is an honor to be able to help manage tournaments for one of the most historic golf associations in the country,” Hood said.

Duffy has six years of golf administration experience, and in that time, he has worked for Atlanta Junior Golf as a Tournament Director, Northern Ohio Golf Association as a P.J. Boatwright Jr. Tournament Operation Intern, and with the Georgia State Golf Association as an Operations Intern for their junior department.

Duffy has a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Management with a minor in Business, Management, and Economics. Outside of the golfing world, Kevin enjoys, fishing, hiking, and photography.

“I am so grateful and excited to be working for the Carolinas Golf Association,” Duffy said. “Ready to get the season started and help grow the game in the Carolinas.”

Duffy and Hood have both begun their positions at the CGA.
