Hope Valley Junior Round Two Results

Second round results from the Hope Valley Junior Invitational hosted by Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, NC on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.  Boys yardage - 6,720 yards, par 70 (72.9/136) Girls yardage - 5,844 yards, par 70 (73.5/139)

After 36-holes in the inaugural Hope Valley Junior Invitational, Katherine Schuster of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Bronson Myers of Columbia, SC lead their divisions heading into Thursday's final round. 

 

Schuster, a high school sophomore, sits on top of the girls' division with a two day total of one under par 139 after shooting a second round 68 and has a five shot lead over Emily Dunlap of Greenville, SC.  Dunlap, a high school senior, finished with a second round 74 and a two day total of 144.  High school senior, Julia McLaughlin of Princeton, NJ is alone in third place after a second round 71 and has a total of 146.

 

In the boys' division, Myers, a high school senior, followed up his first round of 66 with a round of even par 70 and has a two day total of four under par 136.  "The course played tough today.  There were some tough hole locations and I struggled on the back side when I short sided myself a few times but was fortunate that it didn't hurt me all that bad" said Myers.  First round co-leader Nick Dunlap of Birmingham, AL and Peter Fountain of Raleigh, NC are just one shot back at three under par 143.  Fountain, a high school junior, had the best round of the day with a five under 65.  "The course was not playing easy, but I made a bunch of putts today" said Fountain.  Spencer Oxendine of Fayetteville, NC is in fourth place two shots back at 138.

 

The final round begins Thursday morning at 8:30 am with groups going off #1 and #10 tees.
