Isaacsons Win 21st Parent-Child

Jon and Madison Isaacson of Greensboro, N.C. earned the 21st Carolinas Parent-Child title after carding a four-under-par 68.

ABERDEEN, N.C. (July 20, 2018) -- Results of the 21st CarolinasParent-Child Championship at Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen, N.C. on Friday, July 20, 2018.

The pair had a near perfect round and only recorded one bogey. Beginning the round with a bang, they carded four birdies and no bogeys on the front nine. After the turn, the duo kept steady and carded an even-par 36 to enter the clubhouse as the leaders.

Madison Isaacson is a rising freshman at UNC-Wilmington, and she said she treasured the day spent on the golf course with her father as the number of days winds down before she heads to college. Winning the tournament was a bonus.

"It really means a lot for me to win this tournament with my dad because we've played golf together on the weekends ever since I was in the 7th grade," Isaacson said. "He's taught me so much about golf, and he's my favorite person to golf with. When I start college in the fall, I won't be able to play as much with him, so it was nice to win this tournament before I go off to college."

Jeff and Macie Burcham of Greensboro, N.C. and Michael Mayer of Pinehurst, N.C. and Virginia Mayer of New London, N.C. finished tied for the runner-up position after carding a three-under-par 69.
 

Each team plays alternate shot except that both team members hit from each tee and then select the ball to be played (modified alternate shot). A team must complete the hole with the ball selected. Teams select the division in which to compete if eligible

Entry is open to any team comprised of a parent and child, regardless of age in any gender combination, excluding male-male. Step-parents, grandparents and in-laws are eligible. At least one member of each team must be 1) be a legal reisdent of one of the Carolinas 2) be a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and have an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club or is a golf professional employed at a CGA member club. A team is eligible if one partner is an amateur member of a CGA member club or if one partner is a golf professional employed by a CGA member club. Pro-Pro teams are not eligible.
