Field Set for NC Jr. Girls Championship

2016 champion Emily Hawkins will return to the North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship to be held at Maple Chase Golf and Country Club in Winston-Salem N.C. from June 12-15, 2018.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 7, 2018) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 22nd North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship at the Maple Chase Golf and Country Club in Winston-Salem, N.C. from June 12-15, 2018.

Players to watch:

• 2016 champion Emily Hawkins of Lexington, N.C. will try to capture her fourth CGA title at this year's event. The Campbell university commit was named the 2016 Carolinas Junior Girls' Player of the year after capturing the North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship as well as the Carolinas Junior Girls' Championship. In 2017, she won the Jimmy Anderson Girls' Invitational.

• Sasha Hayes of Winston-Salem, N.C., who is No. 10 in North Carolina, looks to keep the trophy close to home. She secured her first CGA title at the 2017 Dogwood State Junior Girls' Championship, finishing seven strokes ahead of the field. A strong start to her 2018 season, she won the PKBGT Open Championship at Country Club of Salisbury.

• Anna McDonald of Hickory, N.C., who is currently ranked No. 10 among amateur girls in North Carolina, hopes to earn her first CGA title. She won two TYGA One-Day events in 2017 as well as the PKB Girls' Southeast Series Finale at Cobb's Glenn. Earlier this year, she tied for second at two PKB events, and she looks to capture her first win of the year at this year's event.

• Western Carolina commit, Olivia John of Summerville, N.C., joins this year's field. She finished first at the NCHSAA 3A Girls' Central Regional in 2017, and she is currently ranked No. 14 among amateur girls in North Carolina.

• Alexis Sudjianto of Charlotte, N.C. hopes to capture her second CGA title at this year's event. She won the 2016 Carolina Girls' 15 & Under Championship, holding off the runner-up by one stroke. Earlier this season, she finished second at the TYGA Archdale-Trinity Chamber Junior.

• Lotte Fox of Raleigh, N.C. will be returning to this year's field after finishing as a semifinalist in last year's tournament. She is currently ranked No. 18 among amateur girls in North Carolina. In 2017, she finished fourth at the TYGA State Championship
   

Maple Chase Golf and Country Club will host the North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship for the first time in tournament history. Originally opening its doors in 1955 as Pine Brook Country Club, it was designed by Ellis Maples and features 6,009 yards of pristine golf course surrounded by luscious trees. The club was purchased in 2013 by Lynn Murphy and Lynette Matthews-Murphy, and the buildings and golf facilities underwent renovations.
 

The championship format is 36 holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match play. Top 32 in stroke play qualifying advance to match play.

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer ages 12 to 18 as of June 15, 2018, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club.
